Sinfonietta Passau, under the baton of Eleni Papakyriakou, invites you to a charity concert at Passau Town Hall on December 12. The profits will go to the Passau branch of the Kinderschutzbund e.V. (Child Protection Association). The charity concert is being held under the patronage of Mayor Jürgen Dupper. Looking forward to a musical highlight for a good purpose!

Benjamin Britten's fascinating neoclassical work “A Simple Symphony” (1934) for strings is based entirely on material from works written by the composer between the ages of nine and twelve. With its humorous and childlike character, the work fits perfectly with the charitable purpose and the pre-Christmas season. Afterwards, the outstanding concert pianist Fil Liotis will perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major, K. 488, one of the most popular works in music literature. The second part of the concert will feature Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 8, which is characterized by cheerfulness, vitality, and musical humor.

The highlight of the evening will be the premiere of a newly composed hymn to Vilshofen performed by choirs from the region. This work was created especially for the anniversary year 2026 by regional cantor Martin Bender as a four-part choral composition with lyrics written in collaboration with Erika Schwitulla.
